Duties and responsibilities:
An oncologist is a cancer specialist. Oncology is divided into 3 parts main sub-fields surgical oncology, medical oncology, and radiation oncology. Oncologist job description includes:
·       Perform physical assessments to detect cancerous cells
·       Develop treatment plans based on the nature of cancer
·       Carry out surgical procedures on the areas affected by cancer and cancer treatments
·       Completer procedures such as mammograms and prostate
·       Provide treatment options such as chemotherapy or radiation therapy
·       Collect medical information on patient histories
·       Provide support for cancer patients
Salary: $109,262-$389-701
Education: requires 4 years of medical school, the first 2 years are spent studying physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology and medical ethics, the last 2 years are several moth rotations in different departments of hospital practicing medicine hand on with experienced doctors.
