   What this quote mean is that its better to be alone than to be with bad people. A example is that when you are in a party  with your friends and they start doing drugs, you should  be hanging out with them because they are doing thing they are not suppose to do and there can be consequences for what you and your friends are doing. This also means that not only to be alone but to hang out with people who are good people like for example people who study and don't do drugs. If you want to ruin your reputation then you can hang out with people who do bad and don't care of what they are doing.
